Cade Williams Commits to SMU
Catholic High Bears cornerback Cade Williams has committed to play for the University of Southern Methodist University (SMU) in the Class of 2027. Williams, a 5A prospect, chose SMU over other Division I offers. The Bears' defensive backfield is expected to run a multiple scheme, which aligns with SMU's defensive system. Williams will have the opportunity to compete for a starting position as a freshman. The university's academic program, which offers a strong business program, also played a factor in Williams' decision. Williams previously held a commitment to Louisiana State University (LSU) before decommitting in April. He cited a desire to explore other options as the reason for the decommitment. Williams' commitment to SMU adds to the Mustangs' 2027 recruiting class, which is expected to be one of the top classes in the country.
