Flag Football Scholarship Opportunities Expand for Texas Athletes
The MIAA's pilot district expansion for girls' flag football has created new pathways for Texas athletes to secure scholarships. As the inaugural 2028 season approaches, the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is poised to offer Power 4 status in the Big Ten. Nebraska's flag football program will provide NCAA Division 1 scholarships to talented athletes. Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse in NAIA's KCAC, offers up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are active recruiters in the NAIA. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA Division 1 program, is expected to offer scholarships in the future. St. John's Prep Eagles, a Division I team from Danvers, can benefit from these expanding scholarship opportunities.
