Everett's Top Athletes Eye Flag Football Scholarships at Power Programs
As the inaugural 2028 season approaches, the University of Nebraska's flag football program is gaining traction under coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Local multisport standout Emily Wilson, a senior at Everett High School, is among those considering a pivot to flag football for college opportunities. With the Crimson Tide's Division I status, Wilson's recruitment has caught the attention of several NAIA programs. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, have expressed interest in her skills, offering up to 12 scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, also has a scholarship available. While UT Arlington is developing its program, it has not yet offered scholarships. Wilson's decision will come down to the specific pathways each program offers. Athletes like Wilson can take concrete steps by researching verified scholarship programs and connecting with coaches. By doing so, they can position themselves for success in the emerging landscape of women's flag football.
