Everett Crimson Tide's Top CB Drill for Summer Camp

๐Ÿ“ Everett Crimson TideยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Everett Crimson Tide's defensive backs coach has developed a drill to improve cornerbacks' reaction time and foot quickness. The 'Shuttle and Close' drill involves setting up three cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then shuttle to the second cone, and immediately close to the third cone, mimicking a receiver's break. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, quick hands' and 'Close the gap.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing cornerbacks to react to receivers' sudden changes in direction and stay in phase with the ball. Focus on explosive acceleration and deceleration, and adjust the drill's difficulty by adding or removing cones.
