Unlocking Dominance: The 'Shuttle Stance' Drill for Defensive Ends
๐ Everett Crimson TideยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
At top Div I programs like Everett Crimson Tide, defensive ends are constantly working to improve their speed, agility, and reaction time. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Shuttle Stance' drill. Players will start in a three-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart, then explosively jump into a shuttle stance with their feet together and their body low. They will hold this position for 3-5 seconds before quickly returning to the starting stance. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'low body.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a defensive end's ability to quickly change direction and pursue the quarterback.
