Eagles' Eyes: St. John's Prep CBs Prepare for Season with 'Shadow Drill'

๐Ÿ“ St. John's Prep EaglesยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

St. John's Prep CBs are gearing up for the season with a high-intensity drill designed to sharpen their skills. The 'Shadow Drill' involves a series of 3 sets of 5 reps, where players must track and stay within 5 yards of a designated receiver. The twist? The receiver is wearing a weighted vest, increasing the challenge. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the receiver' and 'stay fluid, don't overcommit.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and ability to stay with receivers in man coverage. By increasing the difficulty with the weighted vest, CBs can build confidence in their ability to stay with faster opponents. Run this drill 2-3 times a week to see improvement in your team's secondary.
