Sprint to Success: A High-Intensity Drill for Duxbury's S Players

๐Ÿ“ Duxbury Green DragonsยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The S position demands speed, agility, and quick decision-making. At Duxbury High School, our trainers have developed a high-intensity drill to push our S players to the next level. The 'S Speed Shuttle' involves three 20-yard cones set up in an L-shape. Players start at the first cone, sprint to the second cone, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the first cone. They repeat this process, focusing on explosive acceleration and rapid deceleration. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, quick hands' and 'Change direction, not speed.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to quickly close gaps on defenders.
