FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Xaverian Brothers Hawks' Linebacker Agility Drill
At the Xaverian Brothers Hawks' summer training camp, linebackers are implementing a high-intensity agility drill to improve their reaction time and pursuit skills. The drill, 'Ladder Weave and Change of Direction,' consists of 3 sets of 10 reps. Players begin in a 3-point stance, then weave through a ladder set up in a zig-zag pattern. Upon exiting the ladder, they immediately change direction and pursue a coach or teammate who is moving at a high speed. Coaching cues emphasize quick footwork, explosive acceleration, and the ability to rapidly alter direction. This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to develop the agility and speed needed to chase down ball carriers in space. By incorporating this drill into their training regimen, Xaverian Brothers' linebackers will be better equipped to make game-changing plays this fall.
