Flag Football Scholarship Opportunities Emerge for Texas Athletes
The University of Nebraska, Ottawa University, Kansas, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are actively recruiting talented female flag football players. As the MPSSAA flag football pilot district expansion gains momentum, Texas athletes are presented with new scholarship pathways. The University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, will debut its NCAA Division I flag football program in 2028. Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse, offers up to 12 NAIA scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also actively recruiting. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA Division I program, is not yet offering scholarships. St. Frances Academy Panthers, a prominent Maryland team, can serve as a model for Texas programs. To capitalize on these opportunities, Texas athletes should research and connect with these schools' flag football programs. By doing so, they can position themselves for potential scholarships and a chance to compete at the next level.
