Wise Pumas CBs: Master the 'Shadow' Drill for Dominant Coverage
As the Wise Pumas prepare for the upcoming 4A season, cornerbacks must hone their skills to shut down opposing receivers. The 'Shadow' drill is a crucial component of their pre-season training. This drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Players will line up 5 yards off the receiver, mirroring their every move. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the receiver' and 'stay one step behind.' The goal is to maintain a consistent distance while reading the receiver's body language. This drill translates to game performance by allowing CBs to develop anticipation and reaction skills, making it easier to stay with receivers on deep routes and in traffic. By mastering the 'Shadow' drill, Wise Pumas cornerbacks will be well-prepared to take on the best receivers in the 4A league.
