DeMatha Catholic Stags WRs: Master the 'Route Runner' Drill

๐Ÿ“ DeMatha Catholic StagsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, DeMatha Catholic Stags wide receivers can take their game to the next level with the 'Route Runner' drill. Designed to improve agility, speed, and route-running precision, this drill is a must-try for WCAC programs. Set up four cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone and sprint to the second, then quickly change direction, cutting back to the first cone. From there, they sprint to the third cone, then cut back to the second, and finally to the fourth cone. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaches, cue your players to 'stay low,' 'keep their eyes up,' and 'drive through the cuts.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a receiver's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, leaving defenders in the dust.
