Improving TE Blocking for WCAC's Top Programs: The 'Box Out' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Good Counsel FalconsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the summer heat intensifies, WCAC's top programs like Good Counsel Falcons are focusing on developing their tight end's blocking prowess. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Box Out' drill. This exercise targets the TE's ability to seal the edge and create a seam for the running back. To set up the drill: pair TEs with a defensive end, 10 yards apart. On the whistle, the TE must quickly close the distance and 'box out' the DE, using their feet and hands to seal the edge. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between. Coaching cues include: 'Seal the edge,' 'Use your feet,' and 'Protect the seam.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to block and create space for the RB, a crucial aspect of WCAC's high-powered offenses.
