Bangor Rams QBs: Master the Art of the 'Quick Release' Drill
The 'Quick Release' drill is a crucial component of any top-tier quarterback's training regimen. This drill is designed to improve the quarterback's ability to release the ball quickly and accurately, even under pressure. To set up the drill, divide the quarterbacks into pairs with one ball per pair. The quarterback will start in the shotgun position, 5 yards deep. The coach will call out a cadence, and the quarterback must release the ball to their partner within 2 seconds. The partner will then catch the ball and immediately return it to the quarterback. The quarterback will then repeat the process for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues to focus on include: 'Quick release, eyes down the field,' and 'Follow through with your throwing hand.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing the quarterback to develop the muscle memory and quick decision-making skills necessary to succeed in high-pressure situations.
