Unlocking Defensive End Potential: The Yarmouth Clippers' 'Rush and Recover' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Yarmouth ClippersยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the summer heat sets in, C programs like the Yarmouth Clippers are putting in the work to develop their defensive end talent. One key drill that's helping DEs improve their game is the 'Rush and Recover' exercise. Divide players into pairs, with one DE rushing against a blocker and the other DE recovering to the quarterback. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Hands up, eyes up' for the rusher, and 'Stay low, stay fast' for the recoverer. This drill translates to game performance by teaching DEs to explosively rush the quarterback while maintaining their gap responsibility.
