Piloting the Line: Warren De La Salle's OL Drill for Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Warren De La Salle PilotsยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Div 1 powerhouse Warren De La Salle Pilots, the OL coaches are gearing up for a strong season with a specific drill that targets footwork and hand placement. The 'Pilot's Pad' drill involves OL players standing in a 3-point stance, with their hands on a large, heavy pad. On the whistle, they explosively drive their feet into the ground and rapidly change direction, mimicking the quick reactions needed to block a speedy DE. Coaches cue players to 'drive through the ground' and 'keep their hands inside the numbers.' The drill is done in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to quickly react to defensive linemen and maintain a strong, balanced stance.
