Trevon Allen Commits to SMU
Traverse City Central cornerback Trevon Allen has committed to play football at Southern Methodist University, the Trojans' Class of 2025 standout announced Friday. Allen, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back, chose SMU over other Power Five offers from Nebraska and Purdue. The Trojans' senior leader was a key contributor to the team's 2023 playoff run, earning All-State honors as a junior. Allen's commitment to SMU is a strong fit athletically, as the Mustangs run a similar 4-3 defensive scheme that features a strong cornerback position. He is expected to compete for a starting role in the secondary. SMU's academic program, which consistently ranks among the nation's best, also played a significant role in Allen's decision. He plans to major in business administration at the Dallas-based university.
