King Crusaders WR Drill: 'Route Runner'
At Detroit King Crusaders, we're gearing up for the upcoming season with a focus on refining our wide receiver skills. One key drill we're running this summer is the 'Route Runner.' This drill is designed to improve a receiver's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate off the line of scrimmage. To set up the drill, have your receiver start in a 3-point stance, then sprint 10 yards downfield before making a sharp cut to the left or right. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps on each side, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'stay low,' and 'explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing receivers to quickly beat defenders off the line and create separation. It's a crucial skill for any Division 2 wide receiver looking to dominate on the field.
