FridayNightPulse Training Tip: WR Speed and Agility Drills for Div 2 Programs

๐Ÿ“ Detroit King CrusadersยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For wide receiver coaches at Div 2 programs like Detroit King Crusaders, it's essential to focus on speed and agility training during the pre-season. One effective drill to improve WRs' quickness and change of direction is the 'Ladder Carioca Drill'. Set up a ladder on the field and have players start in a 3-point stance. On the coach's signal, they perform a carioca drill (side-to-side shuffles) through the ladder, focusing on quick feet and explosive acceleration. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet, quick hands' and 'stay low, stay fast'. This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to create separation from defenders and make sharp cuts on the field.
