King Crusaders CB Drill: 'The Mirror' - A Summer Training Tip for Division 2 Cornerbacks
At the Detroit King Crusaders, our cornerbacks are working on a drill we call 'The Mirror'. This drill is designed to improve reaction time, footwork, and spatial awareness. To set up, have your CB line up 10 yards off the receiver, with a defender mirroring their every move. On the coach's signal, the receiver will sprint 5 yards downfield, then immediately cut back to the original line. The CB must quickly react, mirroring the receiver's cut. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cue: 'Mirror, mirror, mirror' - emphasize the importance of staying in sync with the receiver. This drill translates to game performance by allowing CBs to develop the quick reactions and agility needed to stay with speedy receivers.
