FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Davison Cardinals CB Drill
Defensive backs at top programs like the Davison Cardinals are always looking for an edge in training. One effective drill for cornerbacks is the 'Shuttle and Plant'. This drill targets the player's ability to quickly change direction and maintain speed while tracking the ball. To set up, divide the field into four quadrants. Players start in the middle, then sprint to one quadrant, plant their outside foot, and immediately change direction to the adjacent quadrant. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'explosive start', 'plant and transfer weight', and 'stay on the ball'. This drill translates to game performance by improving a cornerback's ability to stay with receivers on deep routes and quickly recover to the ball in the air.
