DeShawn Wilson Commits to UTSA Roadrunners
Elk River Elks defensive end DeShawn Wilson has committed to the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners for the Class of 2027. Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect, chose UTSA over offers from Minnesota and North Dakota State. The Elks' standout defensive end cited the Roadrunners' 3-4 scheme as a key factor in his decision, noting that it aligns with his strengths as a pass rusher and run defender. Wilson also praised UTSA's strong defensive line depth chart, which he believes will provide him with opportunities to develop and contribute immediately. Additionally, the university's strong academic programs and research opportunities were attractive to the student-athlete. Wilson had previously committed to the University of Minnesota, but reopened his recruitment in April. He is expected to enroll at UTSA in the fall of 2027.
