Raiders' CBs Get Ready for the Gridiron: The '5-Step Shuffle' Drill
This summer, Cretin-Derham Hall's top cornerbacks will be putting in the work with the '5-Step Shuffle' drill, designed to improve their reaction time, footwork, and agility. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. Starting in a 5-yard split stance, the CB will shuffle 3 yards to the left, then 2 yards to the right, and finally 1 yard back to the starting position. Coaches will emphasize quick, light steps and a low center of gravity. This drill translates to game performance by allowing CBs to rapidly change direction and maintain speed, a crucial skill in covering speedy receivers. By mastering the '5-Step Shuffle,' Raiders' cornerbacks will be better equipped to handle the challenges of 5A competition.
