Explosive Power for 6A RBs: The 'Elk Leap' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Elk River ElksยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Elk River Elks' running backs can gain a competitive edge with the 'Elk Leap' drill. Designed to improve explosiveness and power, this drill targets the key muscles used in breaking tackles and gaining extra yards. To set up, place a box or bench 3 feet high and 3 feet wide. Have the RBs perform 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick, controlled jumps. Coaching cues include: 'Explode upward, don't just lift,' and 'Land softly, absorb the impact.' This drill translates to game performance by strengthening the glutes and hamstrings, allowing RBs to generate more force and speed. By incorporating the 'Elk Leap' drill into their training, Elk River Elks' RBs can gain a significant advantage over opponents in the 6A playoffs.
