FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Agility Ladder Drill

๐Ÿ“ De Smet SpartansยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This agility ladder drill is designed to improve linebackers' foot speed, agility, and reaction time. At De Smet Spartans, Park Hill South Panthers, St. Louis High, Lee's Summit North Tigers, and Blue Springs Wildcats, coaches are implementing this drill to prepare their LBs for the upcoming season. The drill consists of 3 sets of 3 reps each, with 30 seconds rest in between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly move their feet through the ladder, focusing on quick steps and rapid changes of direction. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to quickly close gaps and pursue ball carriers. It also enhances their agility in tight spaces, allowing them to make plays in the hole.
