FridayNightPulse Training Tip: RB Power Through the Hole Drill
This summer, RBs at top programs like De Smet Spartans, Blue Springs Wildcats, Park Hill Trojans, Liberty North Eagles, and St. Joseph Indians are focusing on the Power Through the Hole drill to improve their ability to break tackles and gain extra yards after contact. The drill involves setting up 3-4 cones in a straight line, spaced 3 yards apart. RBs will start at the first cone, then sprint through the course, focusing on keeping their eyes up and driving through the contact. Coaches will provide resistance at each cone, simulating the impact of a defender. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain their speed and balance through contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards.
