FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Targeting Drills
This summer, Christian Brothers College Cadets, Park Hill High School Patriots, Blue Springs High School Bulldogs, Lee's Summit High School Tigers, and Liberty High School Fighting Flies are focusing on developing their tight ends through a series of targeting drills. The 'Target Focus' drill involves a TE standing 10 yards from the quarterback, who is throwing from a stationary position. The TE must focus on the quarterback's eyes and hands, then explode into a sprint to catch a pass at the 5-yard line. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 2 minutes between sets. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the prize' and 'explosive release.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to read the quarterback and make quick adjustments to catch passes in traffic. It also builds speed and agility, allowing them to separate from defenders.
