Kicking into Shape: A Pre-Season Drill for K Players

๐Ÿ“ Lee's Summit West TitansยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The pre-season is the perfect time for kickers to hone their skills and build endurance. At Lee's Summit West Titans, head coach Mike Combs recommends the following drill to improve kicking accuracy and power. The 'Target Toss' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players line up 20 yards from a target (such as a large cone or small goalpost). On the whistle, they kick the ball towards the target, focusing on proper footwork and follow-through. Coaching cues include 'plant and pivot' and 'keep your eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving kicking consistency and power under pressure.
