Kicking into Gear: A Summer Drill for K Players

๐Ÿ“ Lee's Summit West TitansยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For kickers and punters, the summer months are all about building technique and leg strength. One effective drill to incorporate into your training is the 'Ladder Series.' This drill targets agility, speed, and power, all essential qualities for a successful K player. Here's how to set it up: 3 sets of 10 reps each, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Start by standing at the top of a ladder with your feet shoulder-width apart. Take 5 reps stepping in and out of each square, focusing on quick footwork and balance. Next, take 3 reps jumping over each square, emphasizing explosive power. Finish with 2 reps 'hurdling' through the ladder, keeping your knees high and your weight forward. This drill translates to game performance by improving agility and reaction time, allowing K players to quickly adjust to changing situations on the field.
