The De Smet Spartans, a Class 5 program from St. Louis, have begun construction on a $2 million facility upgrade. The project includes renovations to the team's locker room, weight room and training facilities. Spartans coach Simon Collins says the upgrade will give his team a competitive edge in the Missouri high school football landscape. De Smet finished last season with a 9-3 record and a district championship. The Spartans have a strong recruiting class this year, led by quarterback commit Tyler Johnson, a highly touted prospect from St. Louis. Collins says the new facilities will help attract top talent and give his team the resources it needs to compete with the best programs in the state.
