The state athletic association's pilot district expansion of girls flag football has created new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes. The Oak Grove Warriors, a 6A powerhouse from Hattiesburg, are poised to capitalize on these opportunities. According to recruiting analysts, the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is expected to offer up to 12 scholarships in its inaugural 2028 season. Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse, has already committed to offering up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also actively recruiting flag football talent. Texas-based UT Arlington, in development, is not yet offering scholarships but is expected to join the ranks soon.
