Warrior Tight End Training: 'Box Out' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Oak Grove WarriorsยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For Oak Grove Warriors tight ends looking to dominate in the 6A classification, Coach Thompson recommends the 'Box Out' drill to improve their blocking technique and footwork. Set up four cones in a square formation, with each cone 3 yards apart. The TE will start at one corner and perform a 3-yard box jump, landing softly on both feet. Next, they'll drop into a 3-point stance and block the cone directly in front of them. Focus on keeping their elbows close and driving through the block. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by teaching TEs to explode off the line and seal the edge, creating space for their quarterback to operate.
