Warrior Speed: Oak Grove's S Players Tackle the 'Shuttle Sprint' Drill
This summer, Oak Grove Warriors' coaching staff is focusing on developing speed and agility in their 6A S players. One key drill is the 'Shuttle Sprint,' designed to improve reaction time and quick burst acceleration. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start at the 5-yard line, sprinting to the 10-yard line, then immediately changing direction to sprint back to the 5-yard line. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'light on your toes,' and 'explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the rapid changes of direction and speed seen on the field. By mastering the Shuttle Sprint, S players will be better equipped to stay one step ahead of opponents and make game-changing plays.
