Game-Changing CB Drill for 6A Programs: The 'Sprint to the Ball' Workout

๐Ÿ“ Oak Grove WarriorsยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Oak Grove Warriors' cornerbacks can take their skills to the next level with the 'Sprint to the Ball' drill. This high-intensity workout targets speed, agility, and reaction time โ€“ essential for 6A competition. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: sprint 10 yards downfield, then quickly change direction and accelerate towards a target (cones or a small ball) 5 yards away. Coaches should emphasize explosive acceleration, keeping the head up and eyes on the target. This drill translates to game performance by improving CBs' ability to quickly close gaps and make plays on the ball. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season training, Oak Grove's cornerbacks will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of 6A football.
