As the inaugural 2028 season approaches, the University of Nebraska's flag football program, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is attracting multisport female athletes from across the country. For Madison Central Jaguars' standout athlete, Emily Wilson, the move to flag football is a calculated decision to capitalize on scholarship opportunities. With a strong background in track and field, Wilson is now focusing on developing her football skills to compete for a spot at top programs like the University of Nebraska, which offers 12 full-ride scholarships. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are also actively recruiting Wilson, while Midland University, Nebraska, has expressed interest in her multisport background. UT Arlington, a developing program, is also on her radar. To increase her chances of securing a scholarship, Wilson is attending summer camps and working with coaches to create highlight tapes.
