Warrior Speed: Oak Grove's 6A S Players Get Ready for the Gridiron

๐Ÿ“ Oak Grove WarriorsยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Oak Grove Warriors prepare for another 6A season, their speed specialists are honing their skills with a crucial drill: the 5-Yard Shuttle with Change of Direction. This high-intensity exercise targets acceleration, deceleration, and quickness, essential for S players in the Warriors' defense. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start at the 5-yard line, sprint to the 10-yard line, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the 5-yard line. Coaches cue: 'Fast feet, quick hips, and explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to cover receivers in space and quickly close gaps in the secondary.
