FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Jaguars' Tight End Drill for Blocking Dominance
๐ Madison Central JaguarsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
At Madison Central Jaguars' summer camp, TE coach Mike Thompson emphasizes the importance of proper footwork and body positioning in the blocking drill 'Tight End Tunnel'. This high-intensity exercise targets the TE's ability to seal the edge and create a seam for the running back. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Players line up 5 yards off the ball and must quickly close the distance, keeping their feet shoulder-width apart and their hands up to deflect the defender. Coaching cues include 'feet first, hands second' and 'seal the edge, don't get sealed'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to block in space and create opportunities for big plays.
