Speed Rush Drill for Defensive Ends at AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Billings Senior BroncsยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Speed Rush drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve defensive ends' speed, agility, and reaction time. At AA programs like Billings Senior Broncs, this drill can be a game-changer. To set up the drill, divide the players into pairs with one player as the rusher and the other as the blocker. The rusher starts 10 yards back, while the blocker stands 5 yards back. On the whistle, the rusher sprints towards the blocker, aiming to beat them to the quarterback. The blocker must use proper technique to block the rusher. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 2 minutes between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving the defensive end's ability to quickly close the gap and pressure the quarterback.
