Broncos' Backfield Boost: The 'Power Through' Drill for Running Backs
To take their running game to the next level, Billings Senior Broncs' RBs will be putting in extra work on the 'Power Through' drill. This high-intensity exercise targets the legs, core, and agility, mirroring the physical demands of a game. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: 1) Start in a 3-point stance, explode into a sprint, then immediately cut to the right and left, mimicking a zig-zag pattern. 2) From the same stance, drive through a mini hurdle (12-18 inches high), focusing on quick footwork and maintaining top-end speed. 3) Finish with a 10-yard shuttle run, emphasizing explosive acceleration and deceleration. Coaches will emphasize proper footwork, keeping the center of gravity low, and maintaining a powerful, driving motion. This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to break tackles, change direction quickly, and maintain top-end speed.
