Wolfpack OLs: Master the 'Pancake Drill' for Dominant Play
As Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack's OLs prepare for the upcoming season, incorporating the 'Pancake Drill' into their training regimen will pay dividends. This drill focuses on developing the strength and technique necessary to pancake defensive linemen. To execute the drill, have OLs pair up and line up in a neutral position, with their feet shoulder-width apart and hands on the ground. On the whistle, they explosively drive forward, aiming to 'pancake' their opponent. Start with 3 sets of 5 reps, focusing on proper technique and quickness. As they progress, increase the difficulty by adding resistance bands or having them drive through a sled. Coaching cues include 'drive through your heels' and 'keep your head up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OLs' ability to generate power and control in the trenches, allowing them to dominate defensive linemen and create holes for their RBs.
