Aggressive Footwork for CBs: The 'Cone Weave' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Great Falls BisonยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, cornerbacks at AA programs like the Great Falls Bison can improve their agility and reaction time with the 'Cone Weave' drill. Set up five cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at one end, weaving through the cones with their feet shoulder-width apart. Coaches should emphasize keeping the body low and balanced, with knees bent and weight evenly distributed. After completing one weave, players immediately change direction and repeat the process. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by allowing CBs to quickly change direction and maintain speed while tracking receivers. It also improves their ability to read the quarterback's eyes and react to the ball in the air.
