FridayNightPulse: CB Drills for AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Great Falls BisonยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At AA programs like the Great Falls Bison, cornerbacks need to be quick, agile, and able to stay with receivers down the field. One effective drill to improve these skills is the 'Shuttle-Box' drill. Set up a series of small boxes or cones, spaced 5 yards apart, and have the CB start at one end. On the whistle, they must sprint to the first box, change direction, and then sprint back to the starting point. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include keeping the head up, using the inside foot to cut, and driving through the turn. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to quickly change direction on the field.
