Wolfpack Wideouts: Mastering the '5-Yard Shuffle' Drill
At Kalispell Glacier, our AA program is focused on developing the skills of our K players to take their game to the next level. One essential drill that has been yielding impressive results is the '5-Yard Shuffle'. This exercise targets the quick change of direction and speed required for K players to create separation from defenders. To run the drill, set up five 5-yard cones in a zig-zag pattern. Have your K players start at the first cone, then shuffle to the second cone, accelerating to a sprint before decelerating and shuffling to the third cone. Repeat this pattern for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet', 'explosive acceleration', and 'controlled deceleration'. By mastering the '5-Yard Shuffle', our K players will be able to create space and make big plays down the field.
