FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Blocking Drills for AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Kalispell Glacier WolfpackยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For AA programs like the Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack, a crucial aspect of tight end development is mastering the art of blocking. To improve their technique, Wolfpack coaches can implement the following drill: "Box Drill". Divide the tight ends into pairs, with one player as the blocker and the other as the defender. Set up a series of cones in a box formation, with the blocker starting at one end and the defender at the other. On the whistle, the blocker must quickly change direction and drive block the defender through the box. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Drive your feet', 'Keep your head up', and 'Finish through the whistle'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to quickly change direction and secure blocks in tight spaces.
