FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Speed and Agility Drill for AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Great Falls BisonยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At AA programs like the Great Falls Bison, linebackers need to be fast, agile, and explosive to cover the field and make tackles. To improve these skills, we recommend the 'Ladder Weave' drill. Set up a ladder on the field with 5-6 rungs, spaced evenly apart. Have the LB player start at one end of the ladder and perform a lateral shuffle through the rungs, changing direction quickly and explosively. Focus on quick feet and a low center of gravity. Do 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet, quick hands' and 'stay low, stay fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the LB's ability to change direction quickly and make tackles in space.
