Chambers Cougars Flag Football Recruits: New Scholarship Options Emerge in Texas
The NCHSAA's pilot district expansion of girls flag football in Texas has created new scholarship pathways for athletes from the Chambers Cougars and other participating teams. While the University of Texas at Arlington is developing its NCAA Division 1 program, it has not yet begun offering scholarships. However, several NAIA and NCAA Division 1 schools with established flag football programs are actively recruiting Texas athletes. The University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, will offer Power 5 scholarships in its inaugural 2028 season. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, offer up to 12 and an undisclosed number of scholarships, respectively. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. Chambers Cougars athletes interested in flag football scholarships should research these programs and reach out to coaches directly.
