Weddington Warriors TE Drill: Building Blocking Power

๐Ÿ“ Weddington WarriorsยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Weddington Warriors' 3A football program is gearing up for another strong season, and tight end play will be crucial to their success. To build blocking power and athleticism, the Warriors' coaching staff has developed a drill that targets the TE position. The 'Anchor and Blast' drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps. Players start in a three-point stance, then explosively drive their feet into the ground, generating power and speed. As they 'blast' off the line, they must maintain a tight, compact body position and focus on 'anchoring' their back foot. This drill translates to game performance by improving TE ability to block defensive ends and linebackers, creating holes for the running back and securing key blocks in the passing game.
