FridayNightPulse: Myers Park Mustangs RB Drill - 'The Hurdle Sprinter'
This summer, Myers Park Mustangs running backs will be putting in extra work on 'The Hurdle Sprinter' drill. The goal is to improve their speed and agility through a series of explosive, low-to-high hurdle jumps. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start at the 5-yard line, sprinting to the 10-yard line, then hurdle over a small cone placed at the 8-yard line. As they clear the hurdle, they immediately change direction and sprint back to the 5-yard line. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, explosive jump,' and 'Stay low, drive through the hurdle.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate through small spaces, making them more elusive defenders.
