Weddington LB Tyler Williams Commits to Army
Weddington Warriors linebacker Tyler Williams has committed to play football at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior, a Class of 2025 prospect, chose Army over offers from Campbell and Gardner-Webb. Williams, a three-year starter for the Warriors, played a key role in Weddington's 3A state championship run in 2023. He was also a first-team all-conference selection. At Army, Williams will join a Black Knights defense that employs a 4-3 scheme, a system that aligns with his strengths as a linebacker. The Black Knights' depth chart at linebacker is expected to be competitive, but Williams' athleticism and experience make him a strong candidate to contribute immediately. Williams was previously committed to Campbell before decommitting in April. He cited Army's strong academic program and the opportunity to serve his country as factors in his decision.
