Golden Lions' Anderson Balances Books and Ball
Shelby Golden Lions cornerback Cameron Anderson recorded 10 interceptions in 2024, leading his 3A team to a conference championship. Off the field, the Class of 2025 standout maintains a 4.0 GPA, a feat that has drawn attention from college scouts. Anderson's academic prowess and athletic ability have made him a model student-athlete in the NCHSAA. 'He's one of the most dedicated players I've ever coached,' said Shelby High School head coach, Mike Smith. 'Cameron's work ethic and commitment to his studies are an inspiration to his teammates.' Anderson's summer is focused on fine-tuning his skills at a prestigious football camp, where he'll compete against top talent from across the state. College scouts are watching to see how Anderson adapts to more complex defensive schemes and if he can maintain his high level of performance while balancing a heavier course load in the fall.
