FridayNightPulse: WR Workout - 'Route Runner' Drill for AAA Programs

๐Ÿ“ West Fargo PackersยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top AAA programs like West Fargo Packers, wide receivers are expected to be polished route runners with quick feet and a keen sense of spatial awareness. To hone these skills, we recommend the 'Route Runner' drill. Set up four cones in a square formation, with each cone 5 yards apart. Have the receiver start at the center cone, then run a 3-yard out route to the left cone, a 3-yard in route to the right cone, and finally a 5-yard deep route to the top cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'eyes on the quarterback,' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the receiver's ability to quickly change direction and read coverage. It also enhances their chemistry with the quarterback, allowing for more efficient and effective routes.
